1. About These Terms

These terms and conditions govern all roofing and building services provided by Peak Roofing and Building (“we”, “us”, “the Company”), operating from Sandyford, Dublin, Ireland. By accepting a written quotation from us, or by permitting us to commence work on your property, you agree to be bound by these terms.

2. Quotations

All quotations provided by Peak Roofing and Building are estimates based on a visual inspection of the roof at the time of survey only. They reflect the condition and scope of work that is visible and reasonably apparent at inspection.

Hidden defects and additional work

Roofing work may reveal defects that were not visible or could not reasonably have been identified at the time of inspection — including but not limited to: timber rot, structural damage to rafters or purlins, failed sarking felt, deteriorated underlying materials, or corroded flashings beneath the roof covering.

Any additional work identified during the course of a job will be clearly quoted and communicated to the customer before any work beyond the original agreed scope proceeds. We will contact you by phone or in writing, explain what has been found, what is required, and the estimated additional cost. No additional work will begin without your explicit authorisation.

In cases where the roof must be made temporarily watertight before it is safe to stop (for example, where a roof section has been opened), we will make the roof weathertight as a matter of urgency and discuss the scope and cost of additional work with you immediately after.

Quotation validity and acceptance

  • Written quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. After this period, the quotation may need to be revised to reflect changes in material costs or availability.
  • A written acceptance of our quotation is required before work commences. Verbal instructions to proceed are accepted in straightforward circumstances but a written confirmation (including email) is preferred.

3. Our Guarantee

Peak Roofing and Building provides a workmanship guarantee on all roof repair and installation work we carry out. The specific guarantee period applicable to your job will be stated in your written quotation and will be up to 25 years on selected services.

What the guarantee covers

  • Defects in workmanship directly attributable to our installation or repair
  • Failure of materials that we supplied and installed, where that failure arises from our installation method rather than the material’s inherent properties or manufacturer defect

What the guarantee does not cover

  • Materials beyond manufacturer warranty — the guarantee applies to our workmanship only; any defects arising from materials themselves are subject to the manufacturer’s own product warranty
  • Damage caused by extreme weather events beyond normal Irish weather conditions, including exceptional storms, flooding, or events classified as acts of nature
  • Any deterioration or failure that results from subsequent work carried out on the roof by another contractor after our completion
  • Failure to follow maintenance recommendations contained in any written inspection report we have provided

Transferability

The workmanship guarantee is provided to the customer named in the quotation and is non-transferable unless agreed in writing by Peak Roofing and Building at the time of or after completion of the work.

Making a guarantee claim

To make a guarantee claim, contact us at info@peakroofing.ie or 085 782 8222 with a description of the issue. We will arrange to inspect the work within a reasonable timeframe. If the issue falls within the guarantee, we will remedy it at no cost to you.

4. Payment

Payment terms

All invoices are due and payable within 14 days of the date of completion of work, unless alternative payment terms have been agreed in writing prior to commencement.

Late payment

Overdue amounts will attract interest at a rate of 8% per annum on outstanding balances, calculated from the due date until the date of payment, in line with the Late Payment in Commercial Transactions Regulations (S.I. No. 580 of 2012) and the European Communities (Late Payment in Commercial Transactions) Regulations applicable in Ireland.

Suspension of work

We reserve the right to suspend work on any active project, or to decline to commence new work for a customer, where previous invoices remain unpaid beyond their due date. We will provide written notice of any suspension. No penalty for delay will apply to us during any period of suspension caused by non-payment.

5. Access and Delays

Customer responsibilities

The customer is responsible for ensuring that we have safe, reasonable, and agreed access to the property on the confirmed work dates. This includes:

  • Ensuring access routes, gates, and roof access points are available and unobstructed
  • Advising us in advance of any known hazards on the property
  • Where scaffolding or access equipment has been arranged, ensuring it can be safely positioned and used

Weather-related rescheduling

We reserve the right to reschedule any work date where, in our reasonable professional judgement, weather conditions make the work unsafe or likely to produce a poor result. No penalty applies to either party for weather-related delays. We will rearrange the work at the earliest mutually convenient date.

Access denied without notice

If access is denied on a confirmed work date and we have not received at least 48 hours’ notice of the change, we reserve the right to apply a reasonable rescheduling fee to cover travel, staff time, and any direct costs incurred. This fee will be communicated to you in advance and will not exceed the cost of one day’s labour for the crew allocated to the job.

6. Liability

Limitation of liability

Our liability to you in connection with any work carried out under these terms is limited to the total value of the work actually carried out as stated in the final invoice for that job. We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or special losses howsoever arising.

Pre-existing defects

We are not liable for defects that were pre-existing and not visible or identifiable at the time of our inspection, or for consequential losses arising from roof failure or damage that occurred prior to our attendance on site.

Insurance

Peak Roofing and Building carries full public liability insurance appropriate to the scale and nature of our work. A certificate of insurance is available on request. We also carry employer’s liability insurance for all personnel working on our behalf.

7. Disputes

In the event of any dispute arising from work carried out under these terms, we ask that you first raise the matter in writing to info@peakroofing.ie. We will acknowledge your communication and provide a substantive response within 5 working days.

We are committed to resolving disputes fairly and promptly. Where a dispute cannot be resolved directly between the parties, either party may refer the matter to mediation or the appropriate Irish courts.

Irish law applies to all contracts entered into with Peak Roofing and Building. The courts of Ireland have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising under these terms.

8. General

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force. These terms constitute the entire agreement between the parties in relation to the services described in the quotation, and supersede any prior discussions or representations.
